Loud and Mouthy Men

Gordan Ramsay yelling on 'Hell's Kitchen'.

Hey, so Denise suggested that I do a blog post about my love of Gordon Ramsay, of 'Hell's Kitchen'. If you don't know who he is or what he's like, he yells and swears at the competing chefs. I love it. I would NEVER want to be on the show, and have someone talk to me like that. Mmmm, just wouldn't work, as I've a temper.

Love the loud mouth, just as long as they aren't stupid and annoying. Gordon isn't either. So is Buddy, from 'Cake Boss'. He yells a lot and he's from New Jersey, and he's just awesome. I also love men who love food. Yeah, that's totally a must. A whole show about cake is pretty awesome too. I never have it anymore, but it's nice to know it's still out there, somewhere.

Buddy Valastro from 'Cake Boss'.

Denise totally needs a loud mouth hard ass, just to be heard. He's gonna need to be a powerful dude. I love it. It's so funny and it will be so loud in their house!

Well, off to eat some lovely taco salad. Bliss.

Finally Back to Normal

Sunday, July 26, 2009

We've been away for awhile with the SWINE FLU but are finally feeling healthy again. We didn't realize how sick we were right away. By Tuesday we were feeling pretty rotten and called to make Doctor's appointment. They made us talk to the nurse who basically said our symptoms were definitely those of H1N1, not surprising as two people at work had already reported having it. Then she told us to stay away from people for 7 days and watch for certain changes in the symptoms that would indicate we needed a doctor. Obviously they are trying to keep people out of the waiting rooms unless it is absolutely necessary so that people who are otherwise sick don't catch it.

Thus began the Swine Flu Hunker of 2009, only rivaled by the Veronica Mars Hunker of 2006. For those unaware, a hunker is when you claim your spot on a sofa with a throw and a cat and lots of yummy snacks and watch marathons of your favourite shows. This one was imposed but we made the best of it.

I did manage to get a bit of work done. Finished a piece that I really like that could be worn as a bridal head piece.

Kiss Me

Friday, July 17, 2009

So, this weekend, Kiss are playing Halifax. I'm not going, as the ticket price is way too high, and my little sister is competing in Special Olympics this weekend.

But, as a little kid of 7 or 8, I LOVED Kiss. I wore a Kiss Army t-shirt to my 2nd grade photo day. Yeah, I was cool. The posters on my wall, and scribbler and of course the albums, I loved Kiss. I'd make my little sister and I dress up like different members of Kiss, though I was always Ace as I though he was way the best.

The last album I liked was 'Creatures of the Night'. After that was 'Lick it Up', and it was utter poo. But the best was 'Destoryer', by far. I would sing 'God of Thunder' on the coffee table all the time when I was a kid. Yeah, 'Slowly rob you of your virgin soul...', mmmm, the subtext was lost on me at the time. Still one of the coolest album covers ever.

So, though they aren't really the band I loved when I was a kid, I will really hope I can hear the show from my apartment. I could hear the Rolling Stones, so fingers crossed.

Hey, check out these super cool blogs. These ladies are just uber-awesome!!! They are simply mish-elle and just you wait! So great.

Eating Clean, Gonna Be a Mean Machine!

Friday, July 10, 2009

Yeah, ok, so I guess I may have heard that eating lots of fruit and veggies was good for you. I'm vegan after all, right? And exercise, yeah, I walk to grocery store across the street. That's a good amount, eh?

Well, don't laugh, but we do want to make a change, as we've mentioned before. And this time, we mean it! Totally been reading Oxygen magazine ( despite the horrid tan-and-sparkly-high-cut-'swimsuit'-and-man-ish-arm-ness ) and just bought the 'Eat Clean Diet' book. The eat clean book isn't a diet, but lifestyle, and wow, is it awesome. I'm glad there was a tiny section on vegetarian/vegan clean eating too. I want to learn to eat really well. I've seen a difference already!!!
As for Oxygen and working out, I love weights. Lifting weights really makes me happy, and the magazine has really good information on exercises and food. I just wish the supplement ads weren't there and that the aesthetic was different. But the info is great. I've even been peeking in on the veganbodybuilding site.

We are going to rule. That's right. You'll see!

I Can Dream Too!

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Melina isn't the only one who dreams about the future, and I can dream big with the best of 'em!  Dream BIG or don't bother is my motto.  So what would you find in my future home, you may wonder?  A big Gothic study / library would be perfect.  All dark wood.  And a big cozy seating area and a fireplace, one tall enough to walk into.  I like the feel of this one.

I also want an indoor pool.  I love to swim but am allergic to the sun so swimming in the ocean can be problematic.  I love the idea of being able to swim anytime I want.  Finding a pic of what I want was impossible.  You see, I want it to be a big indoor pool and I want the room to feel a bit like a cave.  Stone walls and everything.  How cool would that be?

I told you I can dream big!

But here in reality I am waiting anxiously to find out if I have to do my first custom order.  Very exciting!  A woman contacted me the other day about this bracelet:

She wanted to know if it can be made in stainless steel so that it has a less shiny, more medieval look.  I told her I could and am now waiting to see what her decision is .

First custom order.  Every little milestone is so exciting!

House Beautiful

Sunday, July 5, 2009

I just can't resist the temptation to talk about my dream home. I fully expect that when Denise and I move to the beautiful valley, we'll live in a house together till we have our own homes built.

I love big kitchens. They fill my heart with joy. I love to cook, and I feel like I live in the kitchen. These are some lovely ones.

And as for bedrooms, Vanian' s demanding a king sized bed, so it better be big I guess.

Oh, and have I mention a pantry? My fondest wish....

Canada Day!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Today is Canada Day, here in Canada. I like Canada Day, mostly because of the fireworks, and of course having the day off work. This is the first Canada Day I've had off in two years, as I usually volunteer to work.

We, as Canadians, celebrate in a low key way. Usually involves a lot of beer and a bbq. Some have flags, some do not. Some don't even celebrate, like Denise. I think it's because she's French, and the English tried to expel the French to the swamp lands of the southern US in 1755. Geez, talk about holding a grudge.

So if your not Canadian, it's ok, just drink a beer and/or have a bbq and argue about history and your almost there.

Hey, I'll save my opinion of the war of 1812 for the fourth of July.
