STOP THE PRESSES!!!

Monday, April 13, 2009

Ok, in the next few weeks, you'll be seeing a huge change in the look and feel of our blog and our Etsy store. That's right, we are getting a new digital camera. One that is more than 2 mega pixels. Yeah, that's right. Our current camera is only 2 mega pixels. Yikes.

The new camera has 10.1 MP. WOW. I will lose my mind, and may not throw a wobbler everytime  I do photos. Yay. Denise will be thrilled. It was never a fun day when it was photo day in our house.

And, even more cool, or cooler, I found a very reasonably priced tripod. LOVE IT!!! Feeling so unstoppable. I'm actually excited to do photos, especially when we get the new camera. Denise ordered it from work, as part of the rewards program there. It's a Pentax Optio 10.1 MP. Should have it in a few weeks! Yipppee.

Will take so many photos real soon.

The Lynley Mysteries!

Thursday, April 9, 2009

So you may have guessed that we are nerds, Denise and I. Well, we wear this label proudly, even stupidly at times.

One of the nerdier things we do/are obsessed with are British murder mysteries. Ok, really obsessed. Inspector Morse, Touch of Frost, Lovejoy (light on the murders, but always mysterious) Foyle's War and the Lynley Mysteries.

When we discovered a local video store carried all of these in DVD sets, we squealed, like little girls in a candy store. Yes, again, the staff were afraid.

We now happily rent these gifts from the heavens. We use these as rewards for working hard, and fodder for the occasional hunker (there will be further reference to 'hunker' as a verb in future blogs, especially once we quit our day jobs-wink-wink).  To hunker is to have sufficient snacks and food stuffs, DVD rentage, and propper cat-person cuddle ratio in order.
Currently in the midst of a Lynley Mysteries DVD set. I love the interaction of Havers and Lynley. And she is super awesome, not some lame ass chick, she is fearless and loud mouthed-sort of reminds me of someone I know. Anyway, there is nothing more relaxing than a murder and british inspector and some snacks. Well, that's all I can say for now. There is a Lynley in the player right now...

Grateful and Gushing

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Yup, feeling thankful and needing to gush a bit.  Realized it after a weekend visit from our really good friend at effiehandmade.  She's going through a bit of a hard time right now and I think she could use a boost by hearing how great she is.

First of all, she is ridiculously talented.  She has been an Etsy seller for awhile and is definitely our inspiration for the shop.  We have frequent coffee dates that work alternately as venting sessions for all of us and business support meetings.  We were thinking about opening a shop for awhile and she was so incredibly supportive and encouraging.  Not an ounce of resentment because we were stepping into 'her thing'.  Come on, is this girl human?  :)

And another thing that makes her amazing that I think she could stand to hear is that she is one of the most tolerant people I have ever met.  We have completely different beliefs and are coming at the world from very different perspectives, and we have frequent debates about these things, yet she is completely accepting.  Never judgmental or disrespectful, she even eats our vegan food without complaint!

We think she's feeling pretty unappreciated right now so we thought it would be a good time for a sappy post telling her that we are so lucky to have her for a friend!!!!

Fabric Day!

Thursday, April 2, 2009

                                                       Freshsqueezedfabrics

Ok, finally, I'm going to shop for both fabric and patterns today. And you thought pizza night was exciting!

I wasn't sure it was going to happen, as Denise really hates spending time at the fabric store, and we were both sick on Wednesday (stupid 24 hour flu). But today is Thursday, and I'm better and Denise is well enough to go out. Ha.

Lately I've been looking at patterns on-line, so I know what I'll want before I get there. I hate spending hours looking at a pattern book when I could be going through the fabric. You need to touch the fabric, but the patterns are great to shop for on line. I go to Pattern Review, and it's awesome. And, as the name suggests, there are tons of handy reviews from people who have made them.

I usually go through Etsy to look at all the fabric on there. Some of the prints are so cute, they almost make my mouth water. It's spring, and I'm in the mood for some cute, fun prints and new fabrics. So can't wait to get my hands on the fabric.

In fact, I think I get a little too excited. Sometimes I think I creep out the staff a little with my glee at finding a great print or really good deal. They are nice to me, but it may be out of fear.  I just think more people should have some joy in their lives and friggin' express it.

As Denise will comment, we are aquarians, and as aquarius-i (?) we emote big.
