The smell is the best. Eating it right out of the oven is pretty sweet too. But, it's the smell that kills you and then makes you whole. Bliss.
I usually don't allow myself to make it on weekends, as I feel that it is too time consuming. I have work to do on weekends, I'm not someone who has that kind of time. But, oh, it feels so good. I feel all 'mother-goddess-like'. Like I'm making the stuff of life with my hands.
Do something you love today, don't just wait for vacay.

I started making bread just last month. We had a bit of trial and error, there were a few batches that fell flat but we kept at it. I've got a pet starter in the fridge and we have a fresh loaf every three days.
The smell is sublime and finding that the Peanut has burrowed into the side of a fresh out of the oven loaf is enough to make me giggle past the exasperation

Yummy! I love fresh bread right out of the oven. Especially when you put butter on it right away! Good for you-you mother goddess!
